I try to make things

I made this today
It's one of the first creative things I have done in a long time
AND it was SOO fun!
I'm making 4 more letters to spell out
KELLY
for my little sister
This is her birthday gift this year! I'll show you the finished product when I'm done in a few days!

So guess what? Nick leaves me for the whole weekend to go camping with his buddies {who are lame and NOT married and only want to do guy stuff}. So I'll be spending my first night alone tomorrow night! Since I'm a big chicken, I'll probably sleep at my family's house. Or maybe if Noel ever calls me back I'll do something fun with her... :)

anyway, life is good. but boring. nothing to exciting to report. until next time...

{weekend} update

Hey everyone! I hope you had a fabulous weekend! Ours was pretty Rad, as usual

Friday
clean clean clean

temple session

ward pool party at Stapley to celebrate them Pioneers- they had the NASTIEST hot dogs. They tasted like bologne dogs. BLLLEEECK! My stomach was churning for hours after that. The lemonade was over powering and warm, they had nasty stale chips, AND there was so desert...but hey, that's how we celebrate them pioneers- cheap style

home-watch Avatar {our new TV obsession. Have you ever seen it? A.D.I.C.T.I.N.G! I hope the movie they're making about it is good!}

get beat at chess for the 5 millionth time...

Saturday

sleeeeeeeeep in!

figure some finances

clean clean clean

get my nails done {FO FREE!} The beauty of having your lil' sis in cosmetology school is that every Saturday she needs a model for her "test" on what they have learned the past week. This last week she happened to learn to do facials, mani, pedi, eyebrow/eyelash tinting, and eyebrow waxing. So I got to be the lucky one chosen for the pedicure! HOLLA. Oh, and if anyone wants to come with me next time, they only charge 8 bones for a pedicure! Which, besides the nails also includes a sea salt scrub, massage, and resting wax which makes your feet soft! She even put a cute flower in the corner with a jewel. So cute.

Met with Dental hygiene group. This was more fun than I had expected, since the last time I talked to my group they were mean and I had decided that I didn't like them. Maybe they were all having a bad day {or maybe I was...} but we had SO much fun chatting and planning our group project that is due Aug 14th! ARGH! so soon!

Eat at Papaya Thai. Nick and I LOVE this place. We've come so often that when we come in they show us to a booth, don't even give us a menu, and ask "Massaman Curry and Rama chicken?" and we say "UM, YES!" and they hurry off to prepare our meal. We haven't been able to go in a while {got to pay the bills ya know} so we decided to treat ourselves. I totally recommend this place. SO GOOD.

Play risk- lose

Play mexican train - lose

Play chess - lose

Sunday

New calling I have been really anxious to get a calling in our new ward and yesterday it finally happened! Nick and I have been called to serve together as Sunbeam teachers! I am SO excited to be with the cute little sunbeams and have the opportunity to teach with my wonderful husband!

Dinner at the rents. The parents invited us over for dinner after we found out that Nick's extended family wasn't doing a big dinner. So we pretty much invited ourselves over. We had "poison" chicken and it was delicious and I'm not dead yet. We played games - I lost every game.

Home-Search for retainer. I have not been able to find my retainer in a scary long time, AND if I don't find it soon my teeth will be so flared I'll be able to set a cup on it. We tore up our whole place looking for it. don't worry, we prayed to find it, but it still hasn't been found. Hopefully it's here somewhere and not on a garbage barge in the Pacific Ocean...

So ya, that's our weekend in a nutty shell. sorry it's pictureless. We're happy, we're healthy, we're loving life, and having a good time. thanks for all the friends who comment and who keep me updated with the story their lives! We love you guys!

I like to play games, but only the fun ones

Hey Friends, family, strangers, stalkers... Here's what's been happening lately

Nick and I were bored the other evening so we went to Target to buy some fun games with the gift cards we got from our wedding.

Nick LOVES Risk. but he loves CREAMING me at Risk even more. I lost so bad the first time we played I cried. WHAT? {don't judge} It was overwhelming! Have you ever played Risk? I was trapped trying to protect Europe and Asia while he owned the whole rest of the continent...tough game. I almost beat him the second time {even Nick admitted he got nervous I was going to win at one point}, so I feel as if I have gained a little bit of my honor back.

Then we played chess. I thought I had the upper hand the whole game and then OUT OF NOWHERE Nick kills all my guys and totally traps my poor King. I didn't cry. I mean come on, it's just chess. I even asked Nick if he got nervous that I was about to win in this game too...he said No.

We have yet to play Mexican Train with our new domino set. Which is the game I'M looking forward to, because since there is no "killing" involved, I figure I have the upper hand.

OK, now to say something that has been bothering me lately...
I know that my friends are reading my blog without saying HI
I can see you thanks to my good buddy the
Stat Counter. I know who you are, but what I don't know is why you don't want to have virtual fun with me by NOT commenting. What's with that? I would LOVE to hear from you!
Just yesterday I had visits from SEVEN really close friends, who for some reason, decided they didn't want to grace me with their virtual presence. PLEASE comment. You are important people in my life.
So here's your chance. Leave a comment. I can see you!

My Happy Place

You know those moments in the day when you feel
overwhelmed
FRUSTRATED
annoyed
hopeless
sad
or disheartened?

I have had those moments, but when I do, there are things I do to take me to my happy place :)

1. I LOVE the soundtrack from the movie HAIRSPRAY
I don't know what it is about the music but it just ignites happiness from within me the instant I start to listen to it. click HERE to listen/watch my FAVORITE song from the movie. It's too good for words. The dancing is amazing. Seaweed is my favorite character anyway so OF COURSE this is my favorite...

2. I Love to write lists {as you can tell}. Lists calm me down. They put my life in order. Everything I need to do, on a list. Then I love to check off my lists when things start to get finished. It makes me feel very on top of things when I can get a whole list completed.

3. I love looking at pictures. Especially pictures of Nick and I {I'm a little biased, so what?}. I just finally got some of the pictures from our wedding back and they are so sweet! I also love looking at pictures of my friends, old and new. I love the memories captured within each picture.

4. Friends are the best. They are always there to laugh with you, cry with you, and chat about absolutely nothing with you. They make life fun. I love them. I have some of the most awesome best friends a girl could ask for
5. I love finding things I had lost and didn't remember that I had. The other day I cleaned and organized my jewelry
so cute. and I found at least 5 pairs of earrings that I didn't even remember I had. Now it feels like I have a bunch of new earrings!

6. The temple always takes me to my happy place, because when I am there I am the happiest I have ever been. I still remember the intense happiness I felt while being sealed to Nick, and that feeling has returned to me many times as I have been in the Temple. Nick and I are still going strong with our goal to go to the temple every week, and it has definitely strengthened us individually and has also strengthened our marriage.

7. Nick ALWAYS takes me to my happy place. He is always singing some song {real or made up} or telling a joke. He is so positive and happy. It makes me feel so good to be around him. I love his laugh, his smile, his hugs. He can take me to happiness in a way that nothing else can. I LOVE him so much.I'm brainstorming ideas for his birthday that is coming up. Anyone have any good {low cost} ideas?

Anyway, those are just a few of the things that take me to my happy place.
others: new books, smell of rain, green lights, sharpened pencils, sticky notes, cinnamon, perfume, sharpies, wuzzles {word-puzzles. you love 'um, you hate 'em, you love to hate 'em}, new razor, pay day, stretching, organized/clean house

What takes you to YOUR happy place?

anticipation

August initiates the beginning of my two year adventure as a Dental Hygiene student.
I CAN'T WAIT!
I love school. Everything about it makes me so excited. I can't wait to listen to lectures, take detailed notes, read all of my books, study for tests by highlighting and making note cards...ah! Sometimes I feel like the only one who feels the same as me is this fictitious character:
Speaking of Harry Potter...MIdNiGhT SHoWinG ToNigHT!
anyway.....I'm off topic again
so even though dental hygiene school is going to be SO fun, I have had a HUGE list of things to do to get ready for the semester

1. Immunizations
2. Fingerprint Clearance
3. Order scrubs/goggles
4. Order books
5. Read "7 Habits of Highly Effective People"
6. Write a 1-2 page reflective paper
7. Read The Traveler's Gift
8. Prepare a group project to be presented the first day of class
9. Doctor check up
10. Eye doctor check up
11. Collect teeth from oral surgeons
12. Drug screening

this list might not have seemed so daunting, except that this summer we have been moving in, changing my name EVERYWHERE, signing up for financial aid, and figuring out insurance and all our finances. It has been a fun yet crazy ride. I can't wait till my list is completed and I'm finally in the program!
Life is good. Don't blink

ummm...sexless?

Dear Kissing Meter,
That wasn't funny. Sexless? Couldn't you have given me "exciting", "passionate" or even "intoxicating"? It also wasn't very funny when you gave Nick "ECSTASY". He has been on his high horse ever since. He claims he's going to "train" me to be as good as him. HA. Little does he know that in years PAST I have been given "DYNAMITE" multiple times. Very funny kissing meter. Way to make me look good in front of the husband.

Disney land was the bomb.com OF COURSE
the classic Disney suckers are a MUST
the plan: kiss for the picture
if you look really close I really actually got his nose...
the beach was the SHIZzz
Nick made us the awesomest matching bracelets
a sea lion totally washed up on the beach on our second day.
it would have been cool...except it was dieing...
we also totally won the family sand castle contest. there was an awesome bridge on the other side
the sunsets were beautiful
and of course we wrote cute things in the sand :)
we pretty much had a blast. Nick loved getting to know my extended family better.
oh and isn't this picture AWESOME? compliments of Kelly :)

Vacations are awesome. Especially to Cali :)
I'll leave you with a quote for the week

"We are sometimes so anxious about our personal images, when it is HIS image we should have in our countenances."
