the motherload.

since I’m totally busy and a slacker when it comes to timely blog posting, here is a massively large post about the happening with our little family over the last two months.

don’t be surprised that many of our pictures our of Cal :)

Calvin is so happy! He started smiling really well at 8 weeks and we just can’t get enough!

We have been enjoying the beautiful cold weather this year! I love AZ winters so so much. Calvin has been loving tummy time lately. He has been able to lift his head up strong since day one, but it’s getting less wobbly everyday! And as always, Lucy is Cal’s bestest friend

Nick’s cousin Caitlin had her sweet baby girl Oakleigh two weeks before Cal and they love each other! Oakleigh seemed to be more interested in her hands than anything

Tried to take pictures of him in the grass, but he wasn’t having any of it. Sometimes the boy is just grumpy and needs some mommy and grandma love to make things better.

Calvin loves to sit in daddy’s lap while he watches TV, and dad loves to put Cal in crazy mismatched sockies. Mommy loves her new-to-her chair, especially when her boys are in it.

we finally caught some good smiles on camera. this boy gets so distracted by the camera that it’s hard to get him to do anything else but stare wide eyed at it.

Tried again in the grass, but no go. too windy, so we moved inside. love my handsome guy

I just love these two pictures. the one on the right cracks me up. I just want to eat those toes!

so it like, snowed in AZ in Feb…like twice. crazzzy. but it was pretty cool, except for the fact that some lady rear-ended me…us Arizonan’s are useless drivers come rain, snow, fog or hail.

we are juicers! Got ourselves a legit juicer and it has now become “our thing”. super tasty, even though it looks nasty. love getting all my veggies in this way. trying to be healthy!!

When we juice and make breakfast Cal watches baby einsteins (or us) and then usually falls asleep. We call him our “burrito boy” because he loves being wrapped up like a burrito. He seriously will not go to sleep without being wrapped up, and wrapped up properly too! this kid. already so particular. should be a fun toddler :)

My handsome boys

As far as everything else goes, life is good

* I’m still serving in young women’s as the second counselor AND serving with Nick as the 16/17yr old sunday school teachers….I know. two callings. we manage :)

*I have a new job that I absolutely LOVE for many many reasons.

* yes, I love my new job because I HAVE to work. I HATE being away from Calvin. HATE. IT. But you do what you have to do. buck up. and move on. I am grateful for the many wonderful family members who help our little family.

*We started sleep training with Calvin this week and it is going fabulously! Only fussed (not cried) for 20 minutes last night then fell asleep! Here’s to hoping it stays easy!

* I have joined the gym and have been going religiously and working my bleeping butt off! I am determined to lose AT LEAST 30lbs by our family vacay to cali this summer. I’ll show before and after pictures of my process once I get there.

take luck,

I {heart} Arizona

IMG_8269 IMG_8302

WE LOVE ARIZONA!!!

so I FINALLY got around to doing one of my all time favorite pinterest projects, and I am IN LOVE with how it came out. I am obsessed with the metallic gold background and how well it compliments the colors in my family room.

if you want to make your own love tribute to your state, here is the tutorial from pinterest that I got the basics from: The Harpster Home

I did do a couple of things differently. As you might notice, mine is huge. I wanted a large version of this project to take up more wall space, and also because it’s totally awesome. Since I wanted it to be larger in scale I had to print the outline of Arizona on four different pages and puzzle piece it together to get the size I wanted.

Also, if you notice, the one in the tutorial and many others I have seen have a “spiraling” look in the string pattern. I wanted mine more even so that there was no spiraling. I first divided the number of nails on the outline of AZ by the number of nails in the heart = 7.6. So this meant that each nail on the heart would connect to 7-8 nails on the border. To keep from spiraling I wrapped the 7-8 rounds of string in a “V” shape to the coordinating heart nail. does that make sense?

I’m so in love with this project and Arizona!

good luck making your own!

PS. pics and a life update coming sooooon. (I know I’m way overdue!)

loves, Kristin
